"Do the right thing"

on a cobweb afternoon
in a room full of emptiness
by a freeway I confess
I was lost in the pages
of a book full of death
reading how we'll die alone
and if we're good we'll lay to rest
anywhere we want to go

Everyone makes mistakes, some knowingly, some unknowingly. There could be many reasons, not knowing enough, lack of will power, stupidity, but whatever the mistake .... is there always a way to own up and "do the right thing"?

Its difficult in itself, to "do the right thing", but even more so if you don't know what the right thing to do is !!! We are what our previous experiences have made us, so do good experiences make us a good person?

What is a good person, a noble human being at heart? Someone who has never made mistakes, or someone who has corrected his mistakes, or someone who has never repeated his mistakes? Or something else?

On the other hand, there are things that are hard to term as mistakes, even though going by the popular moral norm, they would be entirely unacceptable. What do you do then?
and on I read
until the day was gone
and I sat in regret
of all the things I've done
for all that I've blessed
and all that I've wronged
in dreams until my death
I will wander on

PS: Lyrics from Audioslave - Like a stone

hey adi! what about mistakes which u keep making? so much so that they become a part of who you are?

A good person I guess, is one who makes mistakes, learns, looks beyond those mistakes and constantly strives to self-actualize. :)

Pre, repeated mistakes are a no no. I mean, if you keep making the same mistake over and over again, cant be very smart, can it?

AC, realizing and learning is the easy part dude ... looking beyond it is totally different, so is living with one

Life, ultimately is a combination of choices, isnt it?

And personally I think it's really easy being a good person if everything is going good.. but difficult to be the same good when things are bad.

Correct. But can you afford to let time slip away over things long gone?
